Let us tell you about the best cherries EVER -- the marascas! The company Luxardo started as a distillery on the Croatian coast in 1821, and made their name with a cherry liquor they called maraschino. In 1905, they started jarring marasca cherries in their liquor. During World War II, one of the family members escaped the Nazi invasion of Croatia and fled to Italy. He took with him a cherry sapling and the family liquor recipe. Luxardo has been growing marasca's and making their maraschino cherries in Italy ever since.

These are the REAL maraschino cherries upon which we've based our cherry cordials. (The US version of maraschino cherries is actually a Sweet Ann cherry, artificially colored, and treated with brine & calcium salts. yummy!)

We use the natural juices from the Luxardo cherries to make the all-liquid center along with a couple of shots of brandy (the alcohol boils away but the taste remains). The liquid is piped into hollow dark chocolate shells, then sealed with a cherry inside.  Each one guaranteed to transport your heart to Italy!
